As you know I had the opportunity to re-see CHANEL’s Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture collection while I was in New York last week. I’m so thrilled to be able to share a behind the scenes look at the stunning presentation with all of you!
Picture the most elegant fashion illustration you have ever seen, now imagine the figure in the illustration coming to life right before your eyes – that is the essence of what Karl Lagerfeld captured in his latest Haute Couture Collection. Lagerfeld’s inspiration for these gorgeous pieces actually came from something extremely simple – a spoon, Alberto Giacometti’s sculpture Spoon Woman to be exact. Giacometti’s sculpture is representative of a woman’s body, from the neck to the bust, a nipped waist and the spoon-like curves of the hips. Lagerfeld took this concept and applied it to the pieces he created with tailored skirt suits, belted high to emphasize the waist. The pieces had feather trimmed hems, silver, sparkle and more elongated lines. Truly beautiful!
From the silver sequins belted dress to the feathered thigh-high boots, all of the pieces from this collection were absolutely breathtaking. It was really hard to pick a favorite look, but I definitely have to go with the beautiful suit and pant set above. The intricate silver beading was absolutely stunning to see in person. The pieces in this collection are truly works of art that showcase Karl Lagerfeld’s incredible ability to create unrivaled designs.
