With February and fashion month coming to an end, there is not a better time to talk about the top fashion trends for Spring. Trends are known for coming and going, but I have a bias for the ones that are elegant and timeless. I wanted to share 7 of my favorite fashion trends for Spring that I know would work for a classy wardrobe. I can fully speak for them now because I caught several of them on the runways during New York Fashion Week for Fall 2018. When a trend lasts longer than a few seasons, you know it has a high probability of becoming a classic. My list below includes those special trends worth investing in.

Let’s get right into it!

7 Fashion Trends for Spring That Are Worth Investing In

Pastels

Anything that looks close to macarons, ice cream, or Easter is in demand for Spring. If you’re seeking transitional pieces like a light jacket or soft knit sweater, trade your typical black and cream colors for lavender, pale pink, or mint. I love the look of pastels when matched with denim or vinyl pieces; it’s like the best combo!

The Belt Bag

This major Spring accessory is sometimes called a fanny pack or waist bag. They’re all the same thing. I saw so many fashionistas at fashion week swinging it across their shoulder and wearing it as a cinched accessory. And I LOVED how chic and cool it looked. I prefer leather belt bags over nylon because they have more structure and form to it.

Pant Suits

Pant suits are also trending for Spring, and I’ve been a long-time fan. You probably remember this look I wore at NYFW during the Tom Ford Cocktail Party. There couldn’t have been a better time for pant suits to return. I’m obsessed with the different cuts available and can’t wait to try some wide-leg or culotte pant suits. They’re so classy!

Red and Pink

After my NYFW trip last season, I feel like red and pink is the new black and white combination. So many designers paired different shades of red and pink together. I was so surprised at how uniform and fluid it felt. It was nothing like Valentine’s Day. This match felt so strong and glamorous. I’m sold on this trend!

Sequin/Metallic

I love timeless style and wouldn’t think sequin or metallics can fall into that category, but I’m slowly changing my mind. From metallic pumps to sequin clutches, I’m amazed at how vigorous these small touches make an outfit look. As long as your careful about the silhouette and pairing, this trend can look luxurious fast just like the outfit above.

Vinyl/Rubber

Another major Spring trend I wore at fashion week was vinyl! This cropped vinyl jacket looks amazing with anything that’s high-waisted. It’s glossy, slick, and fashion forward. To keep it classy, stick to dark, neutral colors and wear it with soft, flowy materials like fur, lace, or chiffon. This rubber dress shown at the Calvin Klein show last season was to die for!

Belts

I’m so happy belts have returned. I have always added belts to my skirts, high-waisted pants, and even blazers. Now that it’s come back, I can put my stash to use. My favorite way to style belts this season is to wear it over my coat or blazer. I’m pretty petite so this will help make me tall and lean.
