The Best of Spring Stripes

Stripes are in season year-round, but there are definitely different things to keep in mind depending on the season. For example, I like big chunky red, black, or navy striped knits in the winter months and more structured blouses. In the spring and summer, I gravitate towards lighter colors, looser fits, and thinner fabrics when wearing stripes. Think gray, pink, light blue. Both versions look classic and nice, but I do think the vibe per season is much different.

Winter stripes always feel pretty casual to me – maybe it’s because it’s usually a big sweater – whereas you can wear striped dresses, skirts, or jumpsuits in spring and feel fancier. You can take stripes from a pool party, to a wedding, or to brunch with friends. They are so versatile – maybe that’s why they are always on trend!

I wore this look for lunch and meetings in LA recently, and felt really good – it’s very spring-y but still put together, right? White denim is back, but this time with raw cropped hems and not quite as skinny. I’m definitely OK with that! I paired some fun earrings to play off the classic look of stripes and to add a pop of color. And isn’t the tie on the shirt fun? I’m pretty obsessed with this top and think I’ll pair it with a loose white linen skirt to dress it up next.
