I used to think of ruffles as too feminine or over the top (they make me think of the 80’s and Madonna, anyone else?), but the styles that are trending right now are really appealing to me. The ruffles are more delicate, and even though they are a statement piece, I like that a lot of the options are more chic and understated.
I packed a few options to wear while I was in Panama last week and I loved styling the pieces. Ruffles were the perfect thing to pair with the energy and culture in Panama, plus they are just so much fun to wear.
Ruffles: Look 1
The first look I wore was this ruffled dress, which was ideal for the Panama heat. Soooo hot! It’s such an easy, effortless summer dress, but the ruffles make it more unique than a regular linen dress. I wore this to dinner and dressed it up with some tied-up heels and my favorite straw bag. Such a comfortable, yet cute look, right? I thought so!

Ruffles: Look 2
The second look I wore was this fun red top, which is on sale! I absolutely adore the one-shoulder element here, and the ruffles that hang down. It’s such a beautiful shirt, architecturally, and the bright color was nice for a night out. I wore some straight legged denim and paired it with a neutral pair of heels and bag. Since the top was so busy, I wanted to keep everything else pretty basic.

If you’re looking for more ruffle options, here are some other pieces I have my eyes on (drooling over this dress!)…
