I have been so excited about this post! You guys know I chopped off my hair recently and it has been one of the best decisions I ever made. So if you’re wondering why I did it, I’ll be explaining that today and sharing some short hair styling tips that I picked up.
I cut my hair for many reasons, but the main one is that I have been craving change! If you have ever gone through a period where life feels a bit constant, then you know what I mean. So I wanted to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. I’ve had long hair forever now and even though there were passing thoughts of cutting my hair before, I was just too attached to it. Recently, I have been thinking about the different ways I could elevate my look and my brand. The thing that kept coming up over and over was cutting my hair. I didn’t enjoy the feeling of being attached, so I decided to make the jump and chopped it off. I have zero regrets about it!

I think most woman can agree that great hair can be deal breaker, so I wasn’t just going to anyone for a fresh cut. I looked to celebrity stylist Justine Marjan for the transformation, then I had celebrity colorist, Cass Kaeding touch up the color. It was much needed because my ends were damaged from coloring it so often. Both really listened to my needs and what I was looking for then made it happen. There are no words to describe how amazing they are!
Overall, I feel like a new person and sexier than ever, which is so weird because I have always thought long hair was sexier, but that’s not the case all the time. My hair has never felt healthier and I feel so confident in it. I also get ready so much faster now. It only takes me 30 minutes, and it’s been the best thing ever!
My haircare routine is a little different now with this new look, so I wanted to share more details about it.
Haircare & Routine
I start by blow drying my hair with the T3 Cura Luxe Hair Dryer. I really love the automatic setting on this one but I’m considering splurging on a Dyson. To achieve soft waves, I’m currently playing with the GHD Soft Curl Iron. I will share more on my technique once I have something set in stone.
In terms of product, I have been washing my hair with Shu Uemura’s Urban Moisture Line. It’s pretty divine if you have dry, damaged hair. But if volume is your priority, then you will love Ouai’s Volume Shampoo. I always blow dry after washing, which means I need a heat protectant spray. I have been alternating between Ouai’s Leave-In Conditioner and Oribe’s Royal Blowout Spray.
For Frizz Control
If you’re like me and struggle with frizz, Living Proof Instant De-Frizzer is the best along with the Frizz Ease Collection by John Frieda. I also love the Alterna’s Blow Out Butter – the cream to oil texture feels really nice on the hair.
Favorite Hair Oils
My latest product obsession goes to hair oils and the two I can’t get enough of right now are Keratase’s Elixir, which is like liquid gold, and Gisou’s Infused Hair Oil. My hair just drinks them up!
Styling Products
For styling, I have been all about texture and volume. I currently swear by Oribe’s Texturizing Spray, but if you don’t want to splurge, get the one by Kristen Ess. Then to get that extra oomph, I use Ouai’s Volume Spray but if you want regular hair spray, L’Oreal’s Elnett Hair Spray is a classic. If you’re working with second day hair and need it to feel clean, then go with Living Proof or Kristen Ess’ Dry Shampoo.
For Smooth, Straight Hair
There are days where I don’t want full, piecey hair, and instead prefer a really smooth and sleek look. To achieve something like this, Kristen Ess Recovery Balm is essential. It’s so hydrating and perfect for taming flyaways. But if I’m going for that wet look, I’ll use Oribe’s Syling Wax – it creates texture that shine! I also use IGK’s Good Behavior Protein Spray on days I want a simple but straight hairdo.
Product Testing
I am testing out two products right now in the volume arena, which are Bumble and Bumble Go Big Treatment and the Great Body Blow Dry Creme. So far, so good but I’ll have to report back on them!
Anyway, I know we covered a lot of products, but I hope that answers several of the questions you guys had. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a hair tutorial up soon so stay tuned! Hope you guys enjoyed this and have a great weekend!
