One of the questions I’m most often asked is how to get clear skin. So today, I’m going to be talking about all the products and tips I use to get that smooth, glowing complexion. I have to be honest that following the tips below won’t be easy, but since we are still at the onset of a new year, this is a great time to adopt good habits.

1. Don’t eat dairy
Honestly, I never eat dairy ever. At one point, I was battling hormonal acne – and it made me miserable. My dermatologist told me to cut it out of my diet if I wanted clear skin, and I haven’t looked back since. This was seriously one of the hardest things I had to do because I love pizza, ice cream, and all those delicious things. But once I made the change, my skin completely transformed.
2. Never sleep with makeup on
This is a given but it still blows my mind how many people break this rule. Even if I’m too tired to do a full evening skincare routine, I will use micellar water or makeup wipes to remove every trace of makeup before knocking out.
3. Stay hydrated and limit sweets
I believe that beauty starts from the inside out, so I drink a lot of water always! I also limit sweets and soft drinks, including juices, because too much sugar makes me break out too. The only exception is coffee.
4. Exfoliate a few times a week
Exfoliating will help you remove dead skin cells and prevent build up that clogs pores. Whether you’re struggling with just one pimple or severe acne, exfoliating will help smooth and brighten your complexion. I love using the Summer Fridays Overtime Mask to exfoliate two times a week. Don’t forget to moisturize your skin after exfoliating because if you don’t, it can dry out and result in more breakouts.
5. Try a mask
I started using this mask by Ren two weeks ago and it’s been a game changer. Whenever your skin feels clogged, or after a long day of makeup, it does a great job drawing out impurities and reducing the size of pores. I currently use it 3x a week. I also love the one by Tata harper!
After using a clarifying mask, I make sure to apply a moisturizing one like a Dr. Jart Sheet Mask, Cle de Peau mask, or Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. I try to use ones with hyaluronic acid in them to hydrate.
6. Schedule facials
I have to admit that facials can be pricey, so I only schedule them once a month for a deep cleanse and toning treatments. I love using the Venus Machine during my facials for toning. I haven’t tried botox, so that’s been the best treatment for keeping my face lifted. If you can, definitely try this out.
7. Apply the right products
Now that I’ve covered my basic rules, let’s get into products I love:
PCA Skin Facial Wash – I have been using this cleanser for years now and it’s the one that I always go back to. It removes makeup so effortlessly and leaves my skin soft and supple.
PCA Skin ClearSkin Moisturizer – I’ll change out my moisturizers depending on how my skin is feeling. This one is my go-to whenever I’m breaking out. It is incredibly hydrating and doesn’t clog pores or cause acne! If you suffer from redness, this will also mitigate that. Best of all, my skin never looks oily or greasy when I put this on.
PCA Skin Blemish Control Bar – I swear by this cleanser when I’m breaking out, otherwise it can be a little drying. Every time I use this, I always see a noticeable reduction in my acne within the first few days! If you have acne on your back or other parts of your body, you can use this product to treat that too.
PCA Skin Acne Gel – If you’re looking for a spot treatment, this gel effectively treats acne without turning your skin into a flakey mess. It’s one of the few treatments I can use that won’t irritate my skin.
Caudalie Vinopure Serum – The natural salicylic acid in this serum makes it great for everyday if you have constant breakouts. I love how it’s mattifying and doesn’t stimulate any kind of sensitivity.
