It’s a very customizable process

The greatest thing about getting eyelash extensions is that it’s a very customizable process. But that also means you need to be choosey about the place you go to. Make sure you do your research, read any reviews online, and ask questions at your appointment. A good technician will be able to give you advice on what will be best for your face, lashes, and budget.

Now here’s what you need to know about the process… There are three types of lash extensions which impact the underlying price. You can pick between synthetic, silk, and mink. Then, you can go as far as picking the style and curl type. I recommend finding out what your preference for length, volume, and fullness is since this will help the process go by faster. Know that lash extensions don’t require you to go all out. You can achieve a very natural look.

It’s not cheap…

The biggest complaint I have about eyelash extensions is the price. I have to be honest, it’s an expensive habit. Your initial set will put you back a few hundred dollars depending on the type of lashes you get and your technician (more experienced = more money). Then you also have ongoing maintenance starting in the low hundreds.

They’re not permanent

Like all beauty treatments, extensions don’t last forever so you have to return for touch ups every 2-3 weeks. If you want them removed, you have to let them fall out naturally or pay to have them removed professionally. Do not try to take them off yourself as this can remove your real lashes.

Maintenance is required

You have to care for your lashes on a daily basis. That includes brushing them out, keeping them clean with a conditioner, and avoiding oil-based makeup removers. Note that you can still wear makeup, but avoiding liquid eyeliner is advised especially along the lash line. You will also need to avoid water on your eyes for about 24 hours after the application and touch up the process.

Makeup becomes a more pleasant process

Perhaps the greatest thing about eyelash extensions is that it expedites getting ready and unready. I can skip eyeliner, curling my lashes, and mascara altogether. Typically, all I need is a light wash of eyeshadow on the lids and I’m ready to run out. Extensions make my eyes look lifted and overall, help me look more awake. I like that I don’t have to worry about removing mascara which tends to cause a lot of tension.

All in all, I would agree that no one needs eyelash extensions to look beautiful, but I love how convenient they are and how they make me feel! If you want to wake up wide-eyed with some length, curl, and volume while avoiding the pain of mascara, eyelash extensions are definitely worth a shot.

Just keep in mind you do have to give your lashes a break from time to time. I take a break from eyelash extensions every 2-3 months and during the winter months, I don’t get them done as frequently. I also started using LashFood, to continue to make my natural lashes stronger and thicker. I will let you guys know if it actually works!
