If I had to choose a shoe that I’ve worn most this year, I think it’d be slides. They’re on-trend, comfortable, and I believe it’s simple to style them – even flat slides. They’re an upgrade from sneakers and are more versatile than boots since they can be worn in most seasons. Plus, I love how they look with most of the cropped denim that’s in style.
If you’re hesitant about the trend or unsure of how to pull them off, here are my tips on styling slides.

Choose the right bottom
Since the slides I’m talking about are flat, it’s important to wear flattering bottoms. If you’re short (like me), wearing a monochrome look on the bottom is smart – so how I chose black denim and black slides. If you want to show off your legs, you can wear slides with a mini skirt and don’t need to worry so much about bottoms. In general, though, I like to show off my ankle when wearing slides, so I’ll pick something cropped at the least. Plus, longer pants or skirts get caught in the back of the slides. No thanks!
Material
There are tons of slides out there right now and though some are fun (glitter, printed, etc.), I think staying classic gives off a chic look. I love the minimal look of good faux leather or suede or wearing colored slides that don’t look super cheap. If you want to spruce them up a bit, I really like a pearl detail.
Fit
Though flat slides seem like they’d be really easy to walk in, you have to make sure you have the right pair. Not being able to walk, just like when you have too high of heels, isn’t the best look and you won’t feel good either. If you have a very narrow foot, you’ll probably have to try on more slides, but these are great. Make sure your heel isn’t hanging over the back and that you can walk without dragging your feet. Seems silly, but it’s such an important step!
