How to Pamper Your Skin on the Weekends

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that I take my skincare routine seriously. During the weekdays or when I’m traveling, it’s hard to squeeze in an entire ritual, so I’ll typically reach for face masks, face mists, and moisturizers. These are the essentials when I’m pressed for time. But if I have a lighter weekend or larger blocks of time to myself, I try to make the most of it by pampering myself. A pamper session for me involves multiple products, a few hours of relaxation, and some candles and wine. Since the week is coming to a close, I’m going to show you how to pamper your skin on the weekends – def try this on Sunday and let me know how it goes!

1. Create the right mood

You may see this as “extra” but the mood is so important to me during a pamper session. I like to relax by dimming the lights, playing soothing music, and burning a few candles. I do enjoy in splurging in bougie candles once in a while and lighting them during pamper days – they have a way of helping me de-stress. I also help myself to a glass of wine or two.

2. Plan for a long, warm soak

Anytime I want to really pamper myself, I plan for a long warm soak. I don’t think we spend enough time soaking in warm water but there are a lot of benefits. It’s stress relieving and comforting. Don’t forget to add your favorite bath salt, bomb, or essence. I have been obsessed with these Goop Body Soak Sets – they’re so amazing! The mix of oils, salts, and minerals is pure heaven and makes my skin feel soft and reinvigorated. You should definitely try these!

3. Use a facial scrub or peel

After removing your makeup and cleansing, apply a facial scrub or peel. I like to start this process after I have been soaking for a while so that the product can fully absorb and penetrate deep into the pores. This will help you get rid of those dead skin cells more effectively.

4. Mask it out

Once my face is deeply cleansed, I’ll apply a hydrating or deep moisturizing mask. Bear in mind that the type of mask you use should reflect your skin type. Some of you might want to apply a clarifying or mud mask. I know my skin gets dry after traveling so I anything hydrating or brightening works great on me.

5. Exfoliate the body

I now move onto exfoliating or brushing my body while I let my facial mask work its magic. I don’t exfoliate my body enough but it feels really amazing when I get to it!

6. Oil up

After exfoliating, I’ll rinse off my mask and lightly dry myself up. Then I’ll apply a body oil, which I have been favoring over lotion. Oils are amazing at locking in moisture and giving you a nice little glow. I’ll share more on beauty oils in another post, but wanted to show you guys really quick that it’s part of my pampering routine.

You can follow up with your usual skincare process of serums and moisturizers when you’re done with everything else. I love my time alone, but I’m always up for girls night in. So if you want, turn your pampering session into a girls get-together! Comment below with your pampering routine!
