I have been traveling a lot lately for work and in the process I’ve learned a few tips that have helped me pack more efficiently, especially for things like New York and Paris fashion week.
I’m not going to lie, I still overpack at times, but with practice and by learning the hard way (paying overweight fees) I have come to terms with just packing exactly what I’m going to wear while I’m abroad.
Before you pack make sure you try everything on! You want to make sure all of the pieces that you are bringing fit perfectly and don’t need any alterations.
Top 5 Packing Tips
Plan your outfits in advance: Putting your looks together before will save you a lot of time when traveling. Another thing I like to do is take pictures of all of my looks and create an album on my iPhone to remember what goes with every piece.
Pack items in the same color palette: Try to bring clothes that are easy to style, basic pieces that go with everything and most importantly clothes that have the same color palette so you can mix and match.
Roll everything: This tip is a life savior. I learned this from my husband actually. Rolling your clothes saves so much space and it prevents your clothes from getting wrinkled.
Maximize space: For example, make sure you put clothes or things like socks and underwear inside your bags. This will help keep your bags in shape and again, save a lot of room when packing.
Store valuables in your carry-on: I cannot stress this enough! Put all of your valuable pieces, like laptops, cameras, shoes, jewelry and designer bags ( in their dust bags) in your carry-on! You don’t want your expensive items to get lost, stolen or damaged!
