I never thought the 90’s style of white t-shirts under thin straps would come back, but here we are! 90’s trends are popping up everywhere, and while I can’t pull some of them off, I do like borrowing this look from that decade.
Slip dresses are one of my favorite kinds of dresses, and this look lets me wear them much more often. It’s basically a way to make the slip dresses in your closet more casual and more cool. And does it remind anyone else of the movie Clueless?

The key to styling this look is just a few easy styling steps…
Step 1: T-shirt
First up is a good quality white t-shirt. You want one that isn’t sheer and that doesn’t bunch up under your dress. I like to wear one that is pretty tight so that it doesn’t wrinkle under the dress and keeps everything flat under the dress
Step 2: Slip dress
Next, find a dress with thin straps which I think looks best with this trend. I like a little lace detail if you want to make things more feminine, and pretty much any color or print works.
These are some other slip dresses that I’m coveting and would be great with this look:
Step 3: Accessories
After you have the main staples, the shirt, and dress, you can style your accessories based on your personal preference or where you’re going. I like to have a little heel when dresses are past my knees because it elongates the small part of your leg that’s showing, and these mules are the perfect height. The mules’ trend looks good with this look in general, I think.
I chose to tie a leather jacket around my waste because it made the outfit look even less dressy, in my opinion. It goes with the 90’s vibe of the top half too. A denim jacket would be cute too!
Then, of course, a cute bag to finish things off! And there you have it – a fun way to style a slip dress and to wear it at any occasion.
