March is finally here and that means we’re getting so close to Spring. I’m so excited for all the dresses and trends that will be making their way into the stores, but don’t put all your outerwear pieces away just yet. Spring is one of those seasons where the weather can be extremely divided throughout the day. You can expect chilly mornings and evenings but blazing afternoons. Weather like that calls for a light jacket, and my personal favorite, especially around Spring, is the denim jacket.
I love incorporating denim jackets into my transitional outfits. So on the blog today, I’ll be sharing 5 types of denim jackets you need for Spring and a few of my favorite styling tricks.

1. The Classic Denim Jacket
The perfect example of a classic denim jacket is the one I’m wearing in these photos. It’s my favorite denim jacket style because it’s the most versatile. It looks great with an intentional denim on denim outfit, your favorite floral dress, and tossing over any casual or semi-dressy outfit. I was running out for coffee in my usual wide-leg trousers and a camisole when I realized I needed something to cover up my arms. This little guy was the perfect finishing piece.
2. The Distressed Denim Jacket
The distressed denim jacket is perfect if you’re going after a more street style inspired look. It usually contains frayed edges or worn-in holes, so it’s best to save this piece for your weekend looks. I think this jacket is great for pairing with crop tops and high-waisted pants or skirts. And if you want to tone down an outfit that’s too cute or feminine, this style is the perfect coverup. It makes everything look a little more casual.
3. The Patchwork or Embellished Denim Jacket
Denim on denim is going to be a major Spring trend, and I can’t think of a better way to pull this tricky look off than with a patchwork or embellished denim jacket. Think color block denim hues or pearls and studs emblazoned across the front and back. The added ornaments and colors will make a full-on denim outfit so much more interesting.
4. The Oversized Denim Jacket
If you’re looking for a spin on the classic denim jacket, but still want to look tidied up, the oversized denim jacket is the best style for you. With a slightly oversized and slouchy fit, it’s the equivalent of wearing your boyfriends t-shirt or those comfy boyfriend jeans. To pull this style off, roll up (or push up) the sleeves and wear it with fun pattern or printed top underneath. You can also try wearing it off the shoulders or over the shoulders for a fashion editor feel.
5. The Colored Denim Jacket
Last but not least, try a colored denim jacket. 2018 is the best time to experiment with color because bold and pastel hues are all relevant! Shades like white, pink, and peach will all act as neutrals in an outfit, but don’t shy from red or yellow if you’re feeling audacious.
