It’s hard to believe that it is already October and that it’s starting to look like fall just about everywhere except for LA. Regardless, I am so excited for a new season of layering, boots, and turtleneck sweaters. If you spend most of your days in a normal 9-5 job, I know how hard it can be to wear the latest trends without feeling like you’re violating the dress code. However, I don’t believe that looking chic and edited requires you to have a boring wardrobe. My job is anything but traditional and that requires me to dress in many different ways. I mostly stick to trend-forward but office-friendly outfits like the one you see above, except maybe the high-slit skirt. Since I often get so many questions about chic workwear pieces, I wanted to share the only 5 items you need this fall.

The Plaid Blazer is one of those forever pieces that you can throw on to look chic and polished in an instance. There are days when I’m wearing something as simple as a plain white t-shirt, but the minute I grab a blazer, I’m good to head out the door.

Turtleneck tops might sound basic but don’t undermine their power. They are the ultimate layering piece in the fall whether you’re pairing them with trousers, midi skirts, or throwing them under a dress. To make a blazer look interesting this fall, try a bright or neutral color and work it into a monochromatic outfit.

I am so excited for the return of waist belts. From double-wrap styles to oversized buckles, they are the perfect way to pull your outfit together for fall. Try wearing your belt over a blazer or a duster coat for a cool, modern office look. It’s also a great way to break up prints or bold colors at the office.
