A Tutorial On How To Pull Off the Sparkly Eye Trend

It’s been a while since I shared a beauty post, especially a tutorial, but I wanted to share a look I’ve been wearing a lot lately: the sparkly eye. Even though it took me a minute to get on board, I’m so happy that I did because I’m loving the look. It’s the mature, evolved version of a sparkly eye that was popular in the 2000’s and I think it’s a great way to elevate a smoky eye or even a neutral daytime look.

For my quick tips on accomplishing the sparkly eye trend, keep reading. Let me know if you want to see a video tutorial on Instagram Stories and I can put that together.

Use a base color

I love everything Victoria Beckham does and I’m really into her beauty products lately. I have this palette in Tuxedo and find that this color combination goes well with my skin and eyes. I use a fluffy eyeshadow brush and basically cover my lid, darker towards my lash line and lighter up top. I use the lightest color under my eyelid and in the corner of my eyes to brighten things up.

The reason it’s important to do the base is so that there’s depth behind the glitter. This lets the sparkle stand out but it’s not the only thing you see on your lid. Plus, I find that a base helps the sparkle stick.

Add glitter

Once you have a base color set, it’s time to layer some sparkle. For this darker look, I used this crystal shadow in onyx. This shade darkens up the look so definitely go lighter on the base colors. I use a denser eyeshadow brush and press in the shadow on top of the base. It’s a heavier hand than with the base color as you want the sparkle to set to your eyelid. I find that the pressing motion helps! You can build as much sparkle as you want, but I like a single layer personally.

Line

You guys, I LOVE this satin eyeliner pencil. It has two different ends so you can line and then blend for that perfectly undone liner look. I really like that paired with the sparkle look because everything looks effortless but elevated. I really like the bronze color mixed with the other colors (tuxedo and onyx) used in this look, but the liner also comes in black and a burgundy which would be pretty. I line the top of my eye and in the waterline of my bottom lid, then lightly smudge everything in for a lived-in look.

Are you into the sparkly eye trend?
